2001 - Live action with special effects - Music video This was a test project really. I had a yearning to work on something different that I could turn around reasonably quickly and just have some fun on without too much planning. It turned out that my friend Dave was taking his band, Red Trap; as they were known then, to various gigs to play their growing play-list. So I offered to make them a pop video, which I'd always fancied trying. They did the gig and I organized taping it with donated camcorders. Unfortunately there wasn't enough decent coverage of any particular song to make it work, so I used video material from the entire play-list and mixed it with some neutral landscape footage (from the forests and fields around my house) to make one song work. I chose "Lost without trace" which they had also recorded professionally in a studio. That gave me the structure to start messing around and I used it a a testing ground for a load of techniques I was dying to try out. The result wasn't spectacularly uniform in quality or style so it wasn't used for anything purposeful, it was just a bit of fun. I guess I had the intension of doing something more professional at a later date but so far that hasn't happened. The band had to wait a long time to get it in the end, but for me this was a quickie! This song was written by Andy Jones, Jim Bryant, Dave Clements, Neil Borman, Mike Scott and Paul Roberts. It was recorded at Stay Free Studios.
